  • Laggy mouse when Tx connected to linux KVM hypervisor
  • Occasional stutter in digital audio caused by receiver

Known Issues

  • Video stream drops out at very high Frame Skipping settings (97-99%). Workaround: If setting the frame skipping settings to high percentages with low refresh rates, you can go beyond the 1s timeout for video stability resulting in the video stream dropping out.
  • USB audio-in doesn't work when the unit is connected to a Mac Studio. Workaround : Unable to record audio on a Mac Studio via a microphone connected at a receiver.
  • Remote support breaks on 2nd network iface if 1st interface has default route Workaround: Cannot use remote support on 2nd network interface if primary network interface has default route set in DHCP or static IP (link local works as there is no default route)
  • Failure to get video signal on second head after power cycle Workaround: No video on second DP connection after a reboot.
  • OSD becomes unresponsive if user password changed on web interface. Workaround: Don’t change the password while the OSD is open. Reboot the unit to recover.
  • Some keyboards with smart cards can stop responding for up to 1 minute after a channel change, if no smartcard is present. Specifically Dell RT7D60. The workaround is to have a smartcard present in the keyboard, which does not then cause a delay.
  • In point-to-point mode – uploading new firmware via URL causes audio and video artifacts . Workaround: This is caused by the upload using the ethernet as well as video and audio. Plan not to do upgrades when the system is actively being used.
  • In point-to-point mode if you change the name of a TX - it causes the RX units to disconnect and then they reconnect Workaround: Plan not to do any name changes when the system is actively being used. 2560x1440p30 to 60Hz output not working Fixed in future release

ALIF3000 f/w 1.2.0.23

Published 22-05-2023 14:41

Changes since v1,1

  • Added new VDI Viewers, VNC, HTML and Terminal (SSH)
  • ALIF1000/2000 range of products including support for CSS-PRO units, USB mass storage devices and many more NON HID devices (HID was already supported) Touch screen support is incomplete and variable between model types and whether connected to ALIF devices or VDI sessions. Please contact your local sales specialists to help you confirm the preferred Touch screen solution operation.
  • The new audio subsystem now provides both analog and digital audio via the ALIF3000’s display connectors, which are sourced from the transmitters analog or USB audio ports. Digital audio on the transmitter’s video connector is not supported
  • Reversed behavior of the CAPS and Num lock possible when switching between different host computers or OSD

Known Issues

  • .CRT certificates not working for HTML channels - This is an AIM issue which will be resolved in V5.8 . Please use .pem files only
  • Time mis-match between AIM and ALIF3000 will prevent firmware upgrade - This only occurs if NTP is enabled on AIM. The ALIF3000 sometimes does not get an update. This is an AIM issue and will be resolved in a future build.
  • When using an HTML channel - you can right click a hyperlink which allows” download linked files”. This is not supported by design however it does stop the channel working. - The page still updates (AIM periodically updates) but cannot be interacted with until the channel is disconnected and reconnected.
  • Microphone audio does not work if Microphone not connected at boot up - Connect and re-boot unit.
  • Dell MS111/116/M105 mice need to have USB merging turned off to work - Read manual on how to turn off merging.
  • Backtick (`) key not behaving properly in VNC/SSH - VNC into Windows / SSH into Ubuntu - The backtick ` key (left of 1) acts as a (Grave diacritic) dead key, so is only output when another key is pressed. With certain keys (e.g. E) it will output the accented character (È). - VNC into Ubuntu - The backtick does not output at all except when Shifted (outputting ¬). The unshifted ` and AltGr | (labelled as a split pipe) can't be produced.
  • Only 9 unique USB devices can be connected at once to the RX - This is by design. Even though a normal USB hub can support 13 endpoints we have reserved ports for internal operations.
  • VNC viewer only supports absolute pointing modes
  • Mouse buttons cannot be used for any AIM Hotkey functions - Currently not supported on ALIF3000
  • Apple A1243 keyboard has incomplete support - Not all the functions are currently supported plus the default English keyboard mapping does not match, so some characters such as §, " and @ are not in the correct key. This does not affect ALIF or RDP channels as the Windows host determines the mapping in those cases. The OSD, VNC, SSH and HTML channels use the 'Keyboard Country Code' setting on AIM to determine the character mapping, for which there is currently no option for a Mac map, whether in English or any other language.
  • When connecting to ALIF2112T via VNC , Password hashing needs to be disabled on the unit - Please see ALIF2112T manual for instructions and remember to re-enter passwords after disabling hashing
  • Supports passwords of up to 8 characters in length for VNC when the server is using the VNCAuth authentication method - It is possible to enter more characters, but the server will ignore them when it validates the password. This is common to all VNC setups using VNCAuth.
  • When using HTML channel, clicking on links that want to open another tab do not work - As designed. Workaround it to load that link as a separate channel.
  • ALIF3000R cannot be used for headless operation. - Unlike other ALIF receiver units , ALIF3000’s USB system does not work without monitors being plugged in.
  • On HTML channels it is not possible to download files from a website. - This is by design.
  • User cannot log in to OSD if the 3rd Network port (RJ45) is connected to AIM - This is a note to warn that this is expected behavior. The 3rd port is only for connecting to separate network where VM machines may reside
  • Occasional decode errors and low frame rates when decoding UHD content from ALIF4000 transmitters - Ultimately this is a network issue and how quickly the ALIF3000R can deal with up to 2Gbps of data. Removing teaming will improve the issue or change to the recommended maximum resolution from ALIF TX of a single 2560 x 1440 resolution

ALIF: ALIF4001 & ALIF4021 f/w 6.06

Published 05-05-2023 12:17

Changes since 6.04 f/w:

  • UI becomes unusable with persistent "connection lost" if user password changed. This effected units in either the self-managed matrix modes or point-to-point operation if “Passwords” were set to protect the pages. If v6.04 has been used, the units need to be factory reset and then upgraded to v6.06 and the settings reapplied.
  • Receiver fails to correctly prune EDID sent to ALIF1002/20002/2020 series transmitters resulting in no video or 640x480 resolution

Known Issues

  • Instability in primary AIM connection to backups occurs exclusively when a user switches from Active-Backup bonded mode to 802.3ad bonded mode in one step. Switching directly from DHCP to 802.3ad mode or from static to 802.3ad mode does not result in any issues with the backup AIM.
  • Unable to configure reserved USB in Rx with comma symbol in description. Don’t use a comma in the description – will be resolved in Next release
  • Truncated channel names in OSD The OSD can only support 25 characters where as in the AIM menu 45 characters are allowed. Please remember that some Japanese/Korean/Chinese characters are classed as 2 characters.
  • Enabling ethernet port 2 on satellite AIM with DHCP enabled causes the AIM to be reported as Failed after 4-5 minutes Ability to add static routes needs to be added.in the AIM next release.
  • SNMP only works on Primary or Acting primary in builds v5.5 and above To be considered for change in future release
  • RDP channel still connect as single head after modifying channel to add second head The change in AIM only takes effect when you log out of the ALIF3000R and log back in again.
  • RDP passwords lost after upgrade form V4 to v5 software Unfortunately, due the nature of the new version – this is not possible to solve.
  • On occasion upgrading from AIM v4.12 to v5.5, Hostname and DNS Domain not populated. Please make note of the settings in case they are not transferred.

Known Issues

  • Connection mode Hotkeys are not working on this release that allow you to switch between View, Shared, Exclusive and Private while connected to a channel.

  • When conf iguring VDI transmitters – Characters “_” are not allowed in DNS name
  • When using “replace function “for ALIF2000 devices with ALIF2100 devices” Channel does not reconnect.
  • Configure channel allows VNC, SSH and HTML channels to select two heads even though only 1 head (monitor) is supported for these modes
  • Do not select “reboot before upgrade” when upgrading ALIF3000R. This introduces an issue on the ALIF3000R where if multiple upgrades are put in progress – only the first unit is upgraded.
  • Not all information is passed in upgrade from V4.x to v5.x due to incompatibility in versions of underlying OS and DB between v4 and v5

ALIF: AIM v3.x/v4.x SSL Web Interface Access

Published 02-03-2022 15:34

Recent updates to many of the popular web browsers such as Chrome and Firefox are now actively blocking older SSL/TLS certificate versions, used on AIM Managers running v3.x and 4.x. If you have enabled SSL access you may not be able to access the AIM's web interface unless you use an older web browser and disable 'Use SSL' in the Dashboard -> Settings -> Network settings menu.

For customers running v4.x firmware, it is recommended that you upgrade to v5.3 which is supported. Customers running v3.x or v4.0 and who are unable to upgrade will either have to use an older web browser or disable SSL access.

CCS-PRO: Windows 10 - Update Changes Absolute Mouse Support

Published 15-06-2021 08:26

The Free-Flow feature on CCS-PRO requires that the host operating system can support an absolute mouse. This is where the mouse tells the host computer where the pointer is on the screen.

Up until the release of a Windows 10 build in Early 2019, it was necessary for you to install our multi-monitor driver to work with more than one monitor. After Early 2019 Windows 10 treated all the screens as one large workspace instead, so depending on your screen layout, the multi-monitor driver was not required. However, after the Windows update on June 8th 2021 "Patch Day", this change has now been reverted, meaning that the mouse pointer will be confined to the first screen unless you install the multi-monitor driver. You will also need to download and use the Free-Flow Configurator to arrange the screen layout.

ALIF: AIM f/w v4.12.10041

Published 07-01-2021 11:53

Feature Additions:-

  • With the release of ALIF3000 V1.1.0 - the AIM system must be upgraded to support the new features contained in it.

    IMPORTANT:
    • If you already have ALIF3000’s attached to the AIM, please make sure you upgrade them to v1.1.0 or above before upgrading the AIM to v4.12. If you do upgrade the AIM before the ALIF3000’s, you will need to reboot the AIM for the ALIF3000’s to connect correctly.
    • The AIM v4.12 sets the minimum firmware version for the ALIF3000 as v1.1.0. Therefore, until upgraded, they will not be fully operational.

  • Support for ALIF4000 V4.02
The ALIF40000 v4.02 release contains new features which AIM is required to control in matrix operation. These features include:
    • SDR10 and HDR10
    • Touch screen control.
  • Support for ALIF101T
The ALIF101T is a new transmitter in the Adder range and will only be recognized in AIM version v 4.12 and above.

Another option has been added to the USB filtering tool to allow blocking of just Mass storage devices.
This option is currently not support on the ALIF3000 or ALIF100T’s.
    • Minimum endpoint firmware versions that support this feature are: -
    • ALIF1002T/R, ALIF2000T/R, ALIF2002T, ALIF2020T/R, ALIF2112T – v5.0
    • ALIF4021T/R – v4.02

ALIF: ALIF4021 f/w 4.02

Published 25-11-2020 11:50

Changes since 3.01 f/w:

  • Support for 10 bit color and HDR. With the introduction of firmware versions 4.01 ALIF4000 models now support video signals with color formats that use 10-bpc (bits per color) as well as the standard 8-bpc. The supported dynamic ranges are:
    • SDR8 - Uses 8-bpc (24-bits in total per pixel), as supported across the ALIF range.
    • SDR10' - Uses 10-bpc (30-bits total) in order to define a wider color gamut.
    • HDR10 - Uses 10-bpc to define a wider color gamut and also benefits from support for ST2084 dynamic range mastering and BT.2020 colorimetry.
  • Touch screen support. The ALIF4000 now supports full touch screen support for operation. (Note: This applies only to touch screens that do not need proprietary drivers). A floating semitransparent icon can be positioned anywhere on the screen and will launch the OSD in either point to point, Basic matrix and AIM control. There is also an on-screen keyboard. When a single touchscreen is used it should operate correctly as soon as the USB link is made between the screen and the ALIF RX. However, if two touchscreens are installed it may be necessary to instruct the ALIF RX which screen to correctly attributed to each USB input.
  • Basic matrix operation. Although ALIF units are most often organised and managed by a central AIM server, it is possible to create small networks of ALIF4021 units, most often in matrix arrangements, i.e. multiple TX and RX units which can freely cross-connect. This method of connection works well for small numbers of TX and RX units but will become more difficult to manage as more units are attached. The maximum number of TX sources that can be made available to any RX is 16.
  • Local feed through at RX. ALIF4000 RX receivers can be configured to support a local link to a separate host PC, via a dedicated ALIF TX, in addition to the main link to the network. The locally linked PC remains completely isolated from the main network. To configure this arrangement, ensure that the IP port that is used for the local link is not allocated an IP address. The link local connection to the ALIF TX must use the same type of port as the main network connection, i.e. either both SFP or both CATx.
  • Added a workaround for an error in the EDID of a LG Ultrawide 38UC99 monitor (3840 x 1660) which did not display video unless active sync is enabled.
  • Rebooting the AIM Manager could cause temporary loss of a channel connection.
  • In point to point mode – Enabling or Disabling the USB setting on the Receiver did not have any immediate effect to the current channel. A reboot or deleting and re-adding the USB connection on the preset was needed.
  • Video Mirroring feature does not support DP Audio.

ALIF: ALIF3000 - Upgrade Issue

Published 02-10-2020 17:32

The ALIF3000 can only be upgraded via the AIM Manager. We are aware of any issue with AIM v4.11 and below where an upgrade will unexpectedly fail. Make sure that you have not set the AIM to Use SSL for its web interface, this is where you use https rather than http to access the AIM. The setting is found under Dashboard -> Settings -> Network -> Use SSL. If you have, temporary turn off the feature, upgrade the ALIF3000(s) and then turn it back on again afterwards.

ALIF: ALIF4021: f/w 2.02

Published 19-12-2019 15:00

Changes since 1.1 f/w:

New Feature:

  • Transparent USB2.0 High-speed link The ALIF4000 contains hardware that allows a full 480Mbps USB2.0 high-speed point to point link to be formed. In this V2.02 release, this feature has been enabled. This is identified as port 1 on the front of the RX unit. The link is point to point only. It cannot be multicast. In terms of setup and operation, it is linked to the normal USB operation. In a matrix system, the first RX to connect to the TX gets the link. If a second RX joins, the high-speed link is not active. If the original RX disconnects, the second unit that joined will assume the link. The HID only feature also disables the high-speed link totally as well as the normal USB from using any device other than HID devices.
  • Point to point setup via OSD. In point to point mode, it is now possible to configure all the RX and TX units setting from the onboard OSD. By using the hotkey modifier (Left ALT, Left CTRL, C default setting) this brings up the OSD and allows the user to configure.
  • USB device support. Support has been added for smart card or CAC readers and support for extra classes of Serial to USB devices.
