ALIF: ALIF2112T FAQ

How do I view dual-video remotely with VNC?

The ALIF2112T will accept two video inputs from a host computer, typically using DVI or HDMI (using a passive HDMI to DVI cable) with a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 per video head.

  • Connect to the ALIF2112T with a VNC Viewer.
  • Click on the Controls menu.
  • From the menu, choose Video Settings.
  • For the Video source option, you have three settings that allow you to view either video input or both-
    • DVI-D-1 Only
    • DVI-D-2 Only
    • Either/Both

Mouse Control

The way you set up the mouse will vary, depending on which Video Source you are using.

  • DVI-D-1 Only. If you are only viewing the first video input and the operating system (like Windows) supports an absolute mouse, it is recommended that you configure Absolute Mouse
  • DVI-D-2 Only. You should use Single Mouse mode.
  • Either/Both. The VNC Viewer needs to be enlarged so that it spans two monitors or you use the scaling settings so that both Video inputs are visible on the screen. The mouse should be calibrated and not use the absolute mouse option unless the operating system supports it for both inputs.

How do I fix the Video Resolution?

By default, the ALIF2112T is configured to pass through the EDID and use the video resolution that is provided by an ALIF receiver when it connects to it; but what if you are using the ALIF2112T stand-alone without an ALIF receiver? It is possible to independently fix the resolution for both video inputs on the host computer.

  • Connect to the ALIF2112T with a VNC Viewer.
  • Click on the Controls menu.
  • From the menu, choose Video Settings.

  • Untick Use Remote DDC on both the DVI-D-1 and DVI-D-2.
  • This will allow you to choose the video resolution that each of the video heads should use, by clicking on the arrows either side of the resolution.
  • Press Save to commit the change.
