DDX: Setting up Dual-Head Consoles

To support multiple video heads on the DDX you need to bind Consoles (DDX-USR) ports.

Points of Interest

  • Only the Primary DDX-USR will show the OSD.
  • If connecting to a single DDX-CAM with a bound collection of DDX-USR's, only the Primary DDX-CAM can be viewed.
  • Only one mouse and keyboard is required for control when binding DDX-USR's.
  • See "Setting up Dual-Head Computers" on how to set up a dual-head computer for your dual-head console.

Dual-Head Console

The following steps will guide you through setting up a dual head user console.

Step 1

First, you'll need to access the DDX management interface and log in as admin. The default admin credentials are below.

Username: admin
Password: password

After logging in navigate to the consoles page of the web interface. This interface shows all your configured consoles and what ports they are associated with, here is where we need to logically link two ports into one console.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, you'll need to decide which console is the one you want to configure as a dual-head system, this is entirely up to you and your system requirements. For this example, we'll be configuring console 03 as a dual-head. To do this you need to click on console 03 and go to its configuration page.

Step 2

Step 3

From its configuration page, we need to add a second port to associate with this console. This port needs to be the one the USR station for your second video head is connected to. To do this, first, click the green plus button under the primary port.

Step 3a

Then you need to select from the drop-down menu the correct port number, in this example, we are going to add port 24.

Step 3b

Then you just need to hit update and confirm the operation as the port number will by default be associated with another console. Once you have done this both ports will be associated with console 02 with port 23 as the primary head and port 24 as the secondary.

Step 3c

Step 4

Finally, we'll want to clean up the management interface as port 24 was originally associated with console 04. Now that we've changed that console 04 is no longer required. To remove console 04 navigate back to the consoles page as explained in step 1. Then select the tick box on the far right of console 04, you'll notice it has no port number associated with it. Then click, "delete selected" and confirm the operation.

Step 4

With that done, you've configured a dual-headed console on your DDX system. You can repeat steps 3 and 4 to create a triple and a quad...etc head systems.
