DDX: Setting up Dual-Head Computers

To support multiple video heads on the DDX you need to bind Computers (DDX-CAM) ports.

Points of Interest

  • Only the Primary DDX-CAM is shown on the OSD.
  • If connecting to a bound collection of DDX-CAM's with a single DDX-USR, only the Primary DDX-CAM can be viewed.
  • See "Setting up Dual-Head Consoles" on how to set up a dual-head console to view you dual-head computer.

Guide

The following steps will guide you through setting up dual video outputs from a host computer.

Step 1

First, you'll need to access the DDX management interface and log in as admin. The default admin credentials are below.

Username: admin
Password: password

After logging in navigate to the computers page of the web interface. This interface shows all your configured computers and what ports they are associated with, here is where we need to logically link two ports into one computer.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, you'll need to decide which computer is the one you want to configure as a dual-head system, this is entirely up to you and your system requirements. For this example, we'll be configuring computer 02 as a dual-head. To do this you need to click on computer 02 and go to its configuration page.

Step 2

Step 3

From its configuration page, we need to add a second port to associate with this computer. This port needs to be the one the CAM module for your source computers second head is connected to. To do this, first, click the green plus button under the primary port.

Step 3

Then you need to select from the drop-down menu the correct port number, in this example, we are going to add port 3.

Step 3b

Then you just need to hit update and confirm the operation as the port number will be default be associated with another computer. Once you have done this both ports will be associated with computer 02 with port 2 as the primary head and port 3 as the secondary.

Step 3c

Step 4

Finally, we'll want to clean up the management interface as port 3 was originally associated with computer 03. Now that we've changed that computer 03 is no longer required. To remove computer 03 navigate back to the computers page as explained in step 1. Then select computer 03, you'll notice it has no port number associated with it. You just need to click delete and then confirm the action to remove it.

Step 4

With that done, you've configured a dual-headed computer on your DDX system. You can repeat steps 3 and 4 to create a triple and a quad...etc head systems.
