ALIF: Address Assignment Timeout - v4.x

Overview

 Important

Customers must update their ADDERLink INFINITY systems to avoid symptoms of an Address Assignment Timeout. The updates listed below have been released to provide an upgrade path to the latest firmware versions. Please note that older versions will only be supported until 31st December 2024.

All other versions of firmware published before 1st August 2024 are no longer supported from 3rd October 2024. It is recommended that you delete or archive older versions of firmware from your AIM to avoid using them in the future.

 Note

The AIM, Transmitter and Firmware updates are patches to existing firmware. They are the same firmware releases with an added patch to address the problem. See the firmware list to see the original and patched version numbers.

The first objective and priority is to upgrade the AIM Manager to the nearest fixed firmware version and then upgrade the receives and transmitters. After which, we highly recommend upgrading to the latest firmware versions. Your starting point will depend on the firmware version running on the AIM and receivers and transmitters.

If you have any questions or problems during the upgrade process, please contact support. Should there be an unexpected issue during the process, please provide us with as much detail as possible.

Step 1: Check AIM and Endpoint Versions

Before you start to upgrade any of the products, make a note of the firmware versions installed on the AIM and the Endpoints. See Where do I find the Firmware Version for help. If you have any of the following models ALIF1002T/R, ALIF2000R, ALIF2002T, ALIF2020T/R, ALIF2112T and they are running firmware versions v4.1, v4.2 or v4.3, please contact support to request a copy of the v4.4.40349 firmware. This version is not patched and should only be used to upgrade units running older firmware to the latest.

Step 2: AIM Factory Firmware Version Check

For AIM-24's purchased before December 2015, you may need to step through firmware version v4.15.20001 before upgrading to version 5.x firmware.

To check which factory firmware you have installed:

  • Open the AIMs web interface and Login in as an Admin.
  • Click on the Dashboard tab.
  • Click on the Updates menu.
  • In the Reset AIM Configuration section, it will show the factory firmware listed first.

    AIM Factory Version

  • The factory version installed on the AIM is circled in the example screenshot above.
