ALIF: How to retrieve Diagnostics on an ALIF4000

 Note

The logs can only be read by Adder support.

In the event that there is a problem that can not be fully understood and resolved, the ALIF4021 and ALIF4001 has a feature that allows you to capture diagnostics. There are multiple ways to capture the diagnostics which include:-

  1. Holding down the button next to the OLED screen on the Receiver.
  2. OSD menu on the Receiver (Point to Point Only)
  3. Web interface on the Receiver and Transmitter.

Method 1

The easiest and simplest way of capturing the diagnostics logs from an ALIF4021/ALIF4001 to do the following:-

  • Insert a FAT32 USB memory stick into one of its USB ports
  • Hold the control button next to the OLED display for about 10 seconds and let go.
    ALIF4021R Diagnostics Press Button
  • On the OLED screen you should see Generating Diagnostics and then Generation in Progress.
  • After a few moments, you will see Generation Successful. If there has been a problem with writing the diagnostics you will see a Generation Failed message. Make sure that there is space on the memory stick and that it is format as FAT32.
  • A file will be saved on the USB memory stick whose filename will begin with ALIF4021R followed by a unique reference.
  • The file should be sent to Adder Support for investigation.

Method 2

This only works if you are connecting a transmitter and receiver point to point.

  • Open the OSD. The default hot key is CTRL+ALT+C.
  • Navigate to the Diagnostics menu
  • Change the Logging Severity Level if you are instructed to do so.
  • Insert a FAT32 USB memory stick into one of its USB ports
  • On the Capture diagnostics to USB option, press the Trigger button to generate a diagnostics file on your USB Memory stick.
  • The file should be sent to Adder Support for investigation.

Method 3

The transmiter or receiver must be connected to a network. It is recommended that you use either Firefox or Internet Explorer.

  • Open the web interface (HTTPS) for the transmitter or receiver.
  • Navigate to the Diagnostics menu
  • Change the Logging Severity Level if you are instructed to do so.
  • On the Capture diagnostics to Download option, press the Trigger button to generate a diagnostics file which will be downloaded to your computer.
  • The file should be sent to Adder Support for investigation.

NOTE: Logging Severity Level only works when the ALIF4000 RX or TX is running without an AIM Manager,
