ALIF: Address Assignment Timeout - v5.x

Overview

 Important

After the 3rd of October 2024 you will not be able to add, factory reset or change the IP address of an endpoint (transmitter or receiver) unless you upgrade the firmware. Any of these actions will prevent the AIM from communicating with the endpoint. This also includes adding a new or factory reset Backup or Satellite Manager. Backup/Satellite AIMs and Endpoints will otherwise continue to operate.

 Note

The AIM, Transmitter and Firmware updates are patches to existing firmware. They are the same firmware releases with an added patch to address the problem. See the firmware list to see the original and patched version numbers.

The first objective and priority is to upgrade the AIM Manager to the nearest fixed firmware version and then upgrade the receives and transmitters. After which, we highly recommend upgrading to the latest firmware versions. Your starting point will depend on the firmware version running on the AIM and receivers and transmitters. There are three fixed AIM firmware releases on the v5.x branch, v5.5, v5.9 and v5.10.

Step 1: Check the AIM firmware version

Before you start to upgrade any of the products, make a note of the firmware versions installed on the AIM and the Endpoints. See Where do I find the Firmware Version for help.

Step 2: Choosing your Upgrade path

Based on the current firmware version installed on the AIMs, please click on the link appropriate link to continue with the upgrade,

AIM Versions v5.0 to v5.4

If your AIM is running firmware below v5.5, you need to upgrade to v5.5 first, before proceeding to a higher firmware version.
Step 3 - Upgrade to v5.5

AIM Upgrading to v5.9 or v5.11

If your AIM is running firmware v5.5 or above, you have a choice of either upgrading to v5.9 which was the last release, or v5.11 which is the latest release. We recommend upgrading to the latest.

For upgrading to v5.9, click:
Step 3 - Upgrade to v5.9

Or, for upgrading to v5.11 (latest), click:
Step 3 - Upgrade to v5.11
