Summary
You have been directed by Support to this page for the following reasons:-
- You have spare units on the shelf, either AIMs or Endpoints
- It is after the 3rd of October 2024
How might my system be affected?
AIM has a built-in security protection mechanism that prevents uncertified devices from joining the system. From 3rd October 2024 current systems will not certify without the appropriate upgrade, which could lead to the following symptoms occurring.
- Prevent customers from adding transmitters and receivers to their matrix system (New or Factory Reset).
- Prevent customers from adding AIM servers to their matrix system (New or Factory Reset).
- Cause transmitters and receivers to cease all communication with AIM and each other should they be assigned a new IP address, either by AIM or by a 3rd party DHCP server. This change in behaviour causes functional symptoms. It does not reduce the security level of your ADDERLink INFINITY system.
Steps
- Complete the online form to obtain specific instructions on how to upgrade your ADDERLink INFINITY system. Make sure you specify the system that you are having the issue with. If you have already completed the form and received your instructions, please progress to Step 2.
Each ADDERLink INFINITY system may require a different update depending on several factors. To be guided to the relevant firmware updates and instructions for your systems, please navigate to the URL below. https://www.adder.com/en/address-assignment-timeout
When you complete the form you will be emailed an appropriate link for your system including full instructions and routes to download firmware.
- Upgrade your ADDERLink Infinity system as detailed in the instructions. (If you have already upgraded your ADDERLink Infinity system, please progress to Step 3.)
- Upgrade your Offline endpoint. There are three possible options.
- If the offline endpoint has never been connected to AIM, you should add the endpoint to AIM and upgrade it using the AIM interface.
- If the offline endpoint has been connected to another AIM database in the past, you should first factory reset it, then add the endpoint to AIM and upgrade it using the AIM interface.
- If the offline endpoint has been connected to AIM in the past, and is currently showing as Offline on the Tx or Rx pages, you should manually upgrade it (except ALIF3000).
- Factory reset the endpoint

ALIF3000s
The ALIF3000 contains a real-time clock and can only be upgraded via an AIM Manager. If it is not running a patched version of firmware, you will need to contact support for assistance.
