How to Enable Remote Support
The ALIF3000R has a remote support feature that allows technical support to connect should the need arise. It works by establishing a secure SSL connection with a managed secure server hosted on the internet. Using a reverse tunnel, technical support can connect to the manager via the secure server. Each support representative has their own unique SSL keys for full traceability when making a remote connection. To protect the ALIF3000R against unauthorised access, Remote Support is disabled by default. Access is only granted by Enabling Support and giving the support representative a unique one-time password which is automatically generated each time it is enabled.
- Connect the ALIF3000R to a network with DHCP and internet access on port 3 (copper port)
- If the ALIF3000R is under AIMs control and a static IP address has been configured,. you will need to configure the Receiver so that IP address 3 is set to use DHCP Reservation.
- If the ALIF3000R has been under AIM control but is not currently communicating with AIM, you will need to factory reset the ALIF3000.
- To find the IP address of the ALIF3000R, press the button to the right of the OLED display on the front to cycle through the information. You are looking for IP address 3.
- Using a host on the same network as the ALIF3000R, open a web browser and enter the IP address 3.
- If you are prompted for login details, the defaults are:
- Username = admin
- Password = password
- Scroll down the page to the section named Remote Support.
- There is a dropdown list, offering a number of ports that can be used to reach the Remote Support Server. You will need to make sure that one of these ports is not blocked by the network firewall. The choice of ports 22, 443, 80, 53, 2222, 10022.
- Select a Port from the dropdown list.
- Press Enable.
- If the ALIF3000R is able to make a connection to Remote Support Server, you will see a new port number and a password.
- Please let the Support representative know the port number and password that it is displayed.
