Infinity ALIF100T Support
The ALIF100T only supports Full and Low-Speed USB devices. for example keyboard and mice. When using an IPEPS-PLUS in front of an ALIF receiver with an ALIF100T transmitter, the USB speed is presented as a high-speed USB hub and the speed is not negotiated at the transmitter end. This means that the mouse and keyboard do not work.
If you upgrade the firmware to v2.05 or above you can disable high-speed USB.
Disabling High-Speed USB
- To disable high-speed USB, connect to the IPEPS-PLUS using a RealVNC viewer and login as an Admin.
- Click on the Configure button in the top right corner of the VNC Viewer.
- From the menu, choose Unit Configuration and click on the Advanced Unit Configuration button.
- Tick Force USB Fullspeed.
- Untick Enable File Transfer
- Press Save button.
- Exit out of the menus.
VNC Absolute mouse not working with DDX
The latest v2 firmware for the IPEPS-PLUS adds Virtual Media support. The new function is not compatible with the DDX and as a result, also causes the mouse to stop working if you use Absolute mode. Disabling File Transfer on the IPEPS-PLUS will allow Absolute mouse mode to work again.
To disable File Transfer
- Connect to the IPEPS-PLUS using a VNC Viewer
- Login as an Admin user
- Click on the Configure button at the top right-hand corner.
- Choose Unit Configuration from the menu.
- Click on the Advanced Unit Configuration button.
- In the Advanced Unit Configuration, untick Enable File Transfer
- Click Save
- Exit the menu
Why I'm I unable to use File Transfer
Make sure that you have File Transfer enabled, Force USB to Full Speed and Force VNC Protocol 3.3 are unticked.
- Click on the Configure button in the top right corner of the VNC Viewer.
- From the menu, choose Unit Configuration and click on the Advanced Unit Configuration button.
- Untick Force VNC Protocol 3.3.
- Tick Enable File Transfer.
- Untick Force USB Fullspeed.
- Press Save button.
- Exit out of the menus.
Does the IPEPS+ support Mac Startup?
There have been some improvements on the v2.13 firmware release for the IPEPS+, however, support is limited.
Mac Startup Keys:
- Safe mode 'Shift' - keyboard and mouse both work.
- Recovery mode 'Cmd-R' - keyboard and mouse both work, although there are keyboard issues with an Ubuntu-based VNC Viewer.
- Single-user mode 'Cmd-S' - keyboard and mouse both most of the time.
- Verbose mode 'Cmd-V' - keyboard and mouse both work most of the time.
- Startup Manager 'Opt' - keyboard works, but the mouse does not.
- Diagnostics 'D' - keyboard works, but the mouse does not.
- Target Disc mode 'T' - neither keyboard nor mouse work.
- (Internet Recovery ‘cmd+opt+R’ - brings up screen ok.
The problem is that is because the Mac is not polling for reports from the mouse, even though it is polling for reports from the keyboard. This is probably because our USB device is a composite device. In Target Disc mode the Mac does poll the keyboard but does not appear to do anything with the resulting reports.
The process required to get into a Mac startup mode is not reliable even with a directly connected keyboard. Refer to:
